Clinical Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellowship

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center offers a post-doctoral fellowship in advanced clinical psychology. These positions are 30 hours a week for the 12-month academic year starting the first week of September through the last week of August. The position has an hourly stipend of $18.74. The fellowship provides 1,500 hours of supervised clinical experience needed for California licensure. The program's goals are to:

  • Develop superior professional psychologists, competent in the basic clinical skills of diagnostic evaluation and evidenced based psychotherapy
  • Increase the fundamental understanding of human behavior through investigation of leading edge multidisciplinary research
  • Enhance ability to apply research and theory to clinical work
Program Structure

Post-doctoral fellows will be integrated into the Adult Outpatient and Adult Intensive Outpatient Programs which provide exposure to a number of diagnostic disorders and treatment populations. The programs are organized into diagnosis specific multidisciplinary treatment teams which allows for in-depth training opportunities, in mood, psychotic, anxiety, bipolar, dual-diagnosis, and personality disorders.

Post-doctoral fellows will conduct structured diagnostic interviews, co-lead psychotherapy groups, and train in CBT and DBT oriented psychotherapy with individual patients. There is also the opportunity to participate in psychotherapy research and the supervision of pre-doctoral trainees.

Fellows will also be involved in the following weekly activities:

  • Direct individual supervision
  • Participation in group supervision
  • Assignment to a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Weekly didactic seminars
Resources

Fellows have access to an extensive medical library, an assessment laboratory with computerized test scoring, audio-visual equipment, group/conference rooms and administrative support.

Qualifications and Application Procedure

We require qualified candidates to have completed all doctoral degree requirements from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. That includes an internship meeting American Psychological Association (APA) or Association of Psychology Postdoctoral & Internship Centers (APPIC) standards by the first day of the fellowship.
