Kuang-Yuh Chyu, MD, PhD

Cardiologist, Division of Cardiology

Kuang-Yuh Chyu, MD, PhD is a staff cardiologist in the Division of Cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Chyu is also Assistant Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Dr. Chyu is certified in cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. His interests include critical cardiac care and atherosclerotic vascular disease. His research interest is to define the role of immunomodulation therapy in treating atherosclerotic vascular disease. He is also interested in the role of nitric oxide as a redox-signaling molecule. His current research projects include defining the role of LDL and its peptide as potential immune modulation antigens. He is also studying the role of reductase domain of inducible nitric oxide synthase in mediating intracellular redox signaling. His work has been presented in annual American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology meetings.

Dr. Chyu has published articles in several peer-review journals, including Circulation, Circulation Research, European Journal of Pharmacology and Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology. Dr. Chyu is a member of several professional organizations, including the Council of Basic Cardiovascular Sciences and Clinical Cardiology of the American Heart Association and the American Physiological Society.

Dr. Chyu received his medical degree from the National Yang-Ming Medical College in Taiwan. He earned his doctorate degree in physiology at UCLA. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Chyu completed his clinical fellowship in cardiology at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship.
