The Cedars-Sinai graduate training program in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery (PM&S-36) is a three-year (36-month) program within the Department of Surgery. Clinical experience is drawn from 27 active podiatric attending physicians on staff and from the orthopaedic attending staff. This includes orthopaedic traumatologists, orthopaedic foot and ankle, orthopaedic sports medicine, and orthopaedic pediatric surgeons. There is an outpatient ambulatory podiatric clinic with excellent exposure to diabetic limb salvage, diabetic foot and wound care, as well as elective foot surgery and biomechanical care.
The program has formal rotations in podiatric surgery, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, internal medicine, orthopaedics, pathology, medical imaging, behavioral science, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and general surgery and a podiatric clinic/office rotation.
There are elective rotations in dermatology, infectious diseases, pediatrics, rheumatology, endocrinology, neurology, vascular surgery and plastic surgery.
Academic knowledge is gained from a weekly lecture series, monthly journal club and quarterly grand rounds, as well as case presentations and cadaver lab.
