Gary G. Rosengarten, PhD

Health Psychologist

Gary G. Rosengarten, PhD is a behavioral medicine and clinical psychologist specializing in behavioral pain management with The Pain Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. In addition, he is currently affiliated with and teaches graduate school at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry, Division of Diagnostic Sciences and Orofacial Pain.

Dr. Rosengarten has been affiliated with The Pain Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center since 1995. Prior clinical affiliations include Northwestern Memorial Hospital, UCLA Medical Center and University of Chicago Hospital.

Dr. Rosengarten's expertise and interests are in the field of pain management, behavioral medicine, relapse prevention, and stress and anxiety disorders. His experience spans an array of medical populations which complement his current work with acute and chronic pain patients, to include patients with migraine headaches, orthopedic surgical patients (pre-surgical evaluation, preparation, recovery), organ transplant candidates, weight loss, severe anxiety disorders, among others.

Dr. Rosengarten has published multiple articles and is active in educating the public and health professionals about pain management, behavioral medicine, self-help training and individualization of patient care. Dr. Rosengarten is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Pain Society and the American Psychological Association (divisions of Health Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology and Psychopharmacology).

Before joining The Pain Center, Dr. Rosengarten worked on postdoctorates and fellowships in the fields of behavioral pain medicine, medical and health psychology, neuropsychology, attention deficit disorder and clinical psychology. Dr. Rosengarten received his PhD in clinical psychology from Illinois Institute of Technology. He completed his clinical psychology internship at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute (NPI) in the fields of consultation-liaison psychiatry and health psychology. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a master's degree in psychology from The American University in Washington, DC.
