Laura G. Audell, MD

Attending Physician

Laura Giffin Audell, MD is an attending physician at The Pain Center. Dr. Audell is board certified in three medical specialties - internal medicine and anesthesiology with a certificate of added qualification in pain management. She has been a member of the staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center since 1988.

Dr. Audell is the former Director of The Pain Center and the Inpatient Pain Service. She has served on many hospital committees, including Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Pain Management Task Force and Performance Improvement Committee.

Dr. Audell's area of expertise include the diagnosis and treatment of complex regional pain syndromes (e.g., reflex sympathetic dystrophy) involving both upper and lower extremities, and post herpetic neuropathy.

Dr. Audell previously served as Director at Large for the Western Pain Society. Her other medical memberships include the International Association for the Study of Pain, International Spinal Injection Society and the American Pain Society. She has received an Award of Excellence from the Southern California Cancer Pain Initiative in recognition of outstanding support of cancer pain relief. She was named one of the country's top doctors by Good Housekeeping magazine and listed as one of "America's Top Physicians" by the Consumers' Research Council of America.

Dr. Audell earned a bachelor's degree in public health and a medical degree from the University of Washington, Seattle. She completed residency training in internal medicine and anesthesiology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine. While still at UCLA, she finished a pain management fellowship, where she served as Chief Resident of Anesthesiology.
