Robert Kraus, MD is Clinical Director of the Cardiac Noninvasive Laboratory in the Division of Cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Kraus is a pioneer in the field of echocardiography, starting the laboratory in 1970 after studying with Dr. Harvey Feigenbaum in Indianapolis. In 1971, Dr. Kraus formed the first local society of echocardiography in the country, the Los Angeles Society of Echocardiography. He has been on the board of directors of the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Registry of Medical Diagnostic Sonographers and the American Institute of Ultrasound. He is past Clinical Chief of Cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine.
Dr. Kraus has authored book chapters and original research in the field of echocardiography. In addition, he has edited the book, The Practice of Echocardiography and the section on cardiology in the book, The Handbook of Clinical Ultrasound. He has served on the editorial board of The Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, and he reviews manuscripts for numerous peer-reviewed journals in cardiology, internal medicine and ultrasound. He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and echocardiography, and he is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Kraus earned his bachelor's degree from Tufts University and his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency and cardiology training at Veterans Hospital in Los Angeles. He practiced privately in internal medicine and cardiology in Beverly Hills until 1993.
