Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Nearly 400 children a year come to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Cedars-Sinai. These children include ones recovering from major surgery or requiring therapy for serious illnesses, such as asthma, respiratory failure, shock, cancer and trauma.

Our PICU is staffed by three board-certified or board-eligible PICU specialists. The PICU is accredited by California Children's Services and serves as the core for designating Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as a Pediatric Critical Care Center by the California Department of Health.

The PICU's current research is focused on the molecular mechanisms involved in septic shock.
