
Carolyn Alexander, MD is Associate Director of the residency program for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and the Center for Androgen Related Disorders at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She is also an Assistant Professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Dr. Alexander's main clinical interests are the treatment of infertility, particularly as related to the efect of cancer and endometriosis. Her research interests include investigation of links between unexplained infertility, ovarian physiology and the diagnosis and treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome. In addition, she participated in a multicenter study for which preliminary data was published in Science. This study evaluated patients' perceptions of embryo cryopreservation with the goal of improving patient care.
Dr. Alexander has authored and co-authored numerous articles for peer-reviewed and other publications, including Fertility and Sterility and International Journal of Gynecological Cancer. She has delivered lectures internationally and is a member of several professional societies, including American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Endocrine Society.
Dr. Alexander received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency and her reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
