
Dr. Babak Azizzadeh is a board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and an otolaryngologist in the Division of Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery, and the Head and Neck Cancer Center at Cedars-Sinai's Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.
Dr. Azizzadeh is an assistant clinical professor for the Division of Head and Neck Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, is board certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery). His surgical expertise lies in facial paralysis reconstruction and reanimation, Bell¿s palsy, head and neck cancer reconstruction, free flap microvascular reconstruction, nasal reconstruction, primary and revision rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation and blepharoplasty.
Actively engaged in clinical and basic science research, Dr. Azizzadeh has participated in various research studies at Harvard Medical School as a research fellow and at UCLA. His work includes collaboration with 1998 Nobel Laureate Dr. Louis Ignarro in evaluating the role of nitric oxide in microsurgical reconstructive surgery. He has also conducted investigations into the application of novel imaging technology in facial reconstructive procedures. Dr. Azizzadeh¿s research interests include surgical treatments for facial nerve paralysis and Bell's palsy.
Dr. Azizzadeh is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstruction Surgery, California Society of Facial Plastic Surgery and American Academy of Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery) and the humanitarian organization, Medical Missions for Children. He has published numerous articles in such peer-reviewed journals as Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences.
After earning bachelor and medical degrees at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Dr. Azizzadeh received general surgery training and otolaryngology - head and neck surgery at that institution. At Harvard Medical School, he completed training in advanced facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and in microvascular head and neck reconstruction.
